Abstract

The education of the new generations to watch television is a necessary and urgent task because of its notable presence, almost omnipresence, in the life of citizens. It is necessary, for this reason, to educate the viewers, from a critical and creative perspective, in order that they can interact actively with television, by developing concrete proposals for an active and critic audience. A set of guidelines is offered in this work to understand this medium and to promote, in the research domain, the critical analysis of TV. The most important reflections and proposals in this field in Europe and America are revised. We conclude with the idea that citizens must be aware of their TV viewers’ condition, acquire skills to interpret the medium and assume their rights before it.
