Production and defense against forest fires in Andalusia (Spain)

Abstract

After some reflections about the natural or human character o f forest tire risk, the author explains the results of his investigation about it in Sierra Morena, the mountains which separate Andalusia from the Castillian Tableland. Althought forest tires are the result of the confluence of an extraordinary multiplicity of factors and certain aleathority is always at work, the analysis of the focuses distribution leads to its dependence on human activity distribution, which in turn depends on territorial characteristics. Finally, the reasons of the success o fthe forest tires defense system developed by Andalusian Regional Goverment are quantitatively and qualitatively enlisted
