Abstract

We remember the Indian Ocean tsunami of in December 26, 2004 and some other notable tsunamis, among them the tsunami of Lisbon in the 1st November 1755. We remember the hurricane Katrina, responsible by the great New Orleans floods in August 29, 2005, but also some storms in the coasts of Europe at different scales. Finally, we remember the manifestation of erosion hazards on beaches and cliffs the Portuguese coast, knowing that the sea is not always the first responsible for the occurred problems.
