Abstract

The articulation of morphological features, vegetable combustible, forest defence structures against fires and burnt area – intrinsic to the municipality of Mirandela – allowed the creation of the Forest Fire Risk Index to the municipality of Mirandela, having this task been feasible under the usage of Geographic Information Systems Tools. These tools allowed their treatment, overlapping, as well as their spatial distribution, therefore giving origin to the Forest Fire Risk Map to the municipality of Mirandela. Under the creation of such Index and of such Forest Fire Risk Map, the purpose is to contribute to a more effective management of the forest fire risk in the municipality of Mirandela.
