Abstract

Within the cultural landscape of mountains in the north-west Portugal, the structure of "socalcos" (agricultural terraces) in slopes is the main identity mark. On the other hand, irrigation, based in traditional irrigation systems, is an essential strategy on the development of agricultural and pasturage activities in the different types of "socalcos". In order to study hazards and risks, the knowledge of these vulnerabilities is very important. Presented propositions can be related with the prevention of geomorphologic, climatic-hydrologic and forest fires hazards and risks.
