A study of lightning-caused fire is presented for Portugal for the period 1996-2008. Based on records of all the lightning caused fire, monthly and yearly trends have been made, in addition to spatial analysis. Data about fire have been crossed with the lightning activity and the weather conditions. The mean monthly variation shows maximum lightning activity between May and September, while minimum values are observed in January and December. There is a strong relationship between lightning activity and lightning-caused fire distribution.
