Abstract

We studied an area off the coast of Valparaíso historically affected by many urban interface forest fires. One of the main factors causing this problem is the existence of large accumulations of combustible plant material close to residential properties, promoting the rapid spread of fire. Measures are proposed for the treatment of vegetation to reduce this risk factor for the population located in this area.
