On this date the Portuguese region of “Oeste” (Estremadura and western Ribatejo) was hit by an extreme extratropical windstorm with gusts greater than 140 km/h. The overwhelming effects of such violent winds have severe impacts on high-power lines. Trees were uprooted all over the region and greenhouses with horticultures were very damaged or destroyed. Therefore the implementation of a survey about the fitossanitary conditions of trees in urban areas is necessary.
