Abstract

In this paper we investigate the flood events which have occurred during December 1995-January 1996 in the urban area of Oporto and make an identification of the flood risk areas and the main causing factors. Finally, a brief analysis is made about the main features of the flood risk perception showed by the communities at risk and the main adjustments adopted in order to cape with this hazard.
