The floods of 1997 autumn in southern of Portugal

Three study cases are introduced in this paper-the most important floods in Lisbon after 30 years (saturday, 18th October, evening), the floods in Monchique, Algarve (sunday, the 26th October, between 2 and 2.30 a.m.) and the deadly floods of the Alentejo (wednesday, the 5th November, evening). In all the cases big amounts of rain were registered. But, man can be responsible by excessive damage.
