The ecological park of Funchal and the prevention of floods and forest fires

The Ecological Park of Funchal has I O km2 on the mountains surrounding the town. During many years, this big municipal propriety suffered intensive pasture and a non controlled expansion of eucaliptus. In 1994, the Park was created and the resettlement with native specimens began. Returning of primitive forest will contribute to the reduction of forest fires and erosion, as well as flash floods in the town of Funchal.
