Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show the importance of floods and slope movements in the Metropolitan Are a o f São Paulo (Brasil). It begins with an introduction on physical and demographic characteristics of the Area, emphasizes the impermeabilization of the ground and finishes with some propositions in order to mitigate catastrophic situations.
