Abstract

After the definition of "cerrado" and the characterization of its types, the Author emphasizes the importance of water, present some meters below. The major risks to the "cerrado" are coming from man with the crop and cattle production as well as wood coal production. Fire is a risk to the human settlements more than to the "cerrado"; this one needs some fire to its development.
