Abstract

The study of dune morphology and the analysis of some dunes gave the conclusion that important movements of sand occurred in the last centuries at center-west coast of Portugal, between Lagoa da Ervedeira and the southern border of the Mata Nacional de Leiria. Reception of sand in experimental plots showed the relationship with dominant winds as well as the progression of dunes with two eolien risks - sedimentation of sand on human settlements and the opening of corridors that can facilitate sea invasion.
