Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

SUBMISSIONS

Manuscripts submitted for publication must be original and in accordance with the editorial standards adopted by the Bulletin of the General Library of the University of Coimbra. They will be subject to double-blind peer review. The whole process will follow the Code of Ethics and the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors at the University of Coimbra (Editorial Policies).

Copyright policies:

When accepting to publish an article in the Bulletin the authors give the General Libray the right to publish it, in printed and / or digital format, at any time and for an indefinite period of time, and without any counterpart. In case the authors include in their articles any material that requires the authorization of third parties, it is the responsibility of the author to obtain the respective authorization and to assume any charges involved. If the Bulletin is printed, each author will receive two free copies of the respective issue.

Where and when to submit:

Manuscripts must be submitted until the end of SEPTEMBER each year through the OJS (Open Journal System) available here:

Languages accepted: Portuguese, English, French, Spanish and Italian.

Presentation and length of the manuscripts:

The manuscripts must be presented in Microsoft Office Word format, should not exceed 50,000 characters (spaces included) and must contain:

a) the title, in the language of the article and in English;

b) the name(s) of the author(s), e-mail address, ORCID identification and indication of the institutional affiliation;

c) an abstract with a maximum of 300 words, in the language of the article and in English;

d) two to six keywords, in the language of the article and in English;

e) bibliography, at the end of the article;

f) footnotes will be brief and only used if absolutely necessary; the call comes before the punctuation mark;

g) illustrations, tables and graphs must be recorded in individual files, indicating in the text of the article the exact place where they must be inserted with the respective

Formatting:

a) title: Arial Bold, size 14 pts, line spacing 16.36 pts, left alignment;

b) subtitles /chapters: Arial Bold, size 9, left alignment;

c) abstracts and keywords: Arial, size 9;

d) main text: Arial, size 10, line spacing 16.36, justified alignment, beginning of paragraph 5 mm, page numbers and sequential notes; there will be no underlining and other bold highlighting besides the title;

e) quotations: must be placed between Portuguese quotations marks («»), except if they exceed three lines, in which case they must be separated from the text by a line space and accompanied by the reference to the work cited in an abbreviated form; font size 9 pts, justified alignment, 10 mm left indent;

f) footnotes: Arial, size 8, line spacing 10 pts; justified alignment;

g) bibliographic references: Arial, size 8, line spacing 10 pts; justified alignment;

h) graphic material and illustrations: TIFF format with 300 dpi resolution.

Proofreading:

Printer´s proofs will be sent to the authors for revision. Changes greater than 10% of the original text will not be accepted.

Peer Review Process

All items accepted by the Editorial Board will be submitted to a system of anonymous referees, entrusted to two external reviewers. If necessary, a third reviewer will be auscultated. In light of advice received the Editorial Board may determine that the authors adopt the suggestions contained in them and, ultimately, may decline to accept the text.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate free access to its contents. We strongly believe that free and public access to scientific knowledge is fundamental for democratizing that knowledge.

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows sharing the work with recognition of authorship and initial publication in Antropologia Portuguesa journal.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and allows them to create permanent archives of the journal for its preservation and restoration. Know more

Fees for submission and articles publication

This journal doesn't charge any fee from authors to articles submission, peer review, revision, journal publishing, and distribution, publication and download in the World Wide Web.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
