This article analyzes how the concepts of class struggle and internationalism, fundamental keys in the theoretical-political building of Marxism, were interpreted by João Martins Pereira and by António José Saraiva, throughout the period between the mid-1960s and mid-1980s. In the context of the History of Ideas, this study sought to understand the reflection of these two intellectuals, both in the public domain and in the private sphere, through a critical analysis documentary study that was supported by a diverse set of sources, including interviews, unpublished manuscripts and articles published in the written press, books and letters.
