This study aims to question the consolidation of industrial property regarding the historical development of fashion. By means of a bibliographic research, we characterize the condition of unauthorized copy as an important topic to comprehend a culture that uses a symbolic construction to distinguish between products for commercialization and products for consumption. The concept of copy is defined by social censorship, which is strengthened by culture, legislation, and the market. This text is part of a research work developed within the scope of the PhD in Contemporary Studies of the University of Coimbra and aimed to evaluate the social implications related to the production, distribution, and consumption of copies.
