The most important controversy in the life of José Rodrigues Miguéis took place in 1930 and centered around the concept of the revolution of the 70’s Generation, based on an article by Castelo Branco Chaves, a former monarch who was taken to Seara Nova by António Sérgio. Jaime Cortesão, Raul Proença and Câmara Reys also took part in it. Miguéis does not identify with Seara Nova’s ideological reformism and those intellectuals do not identify with its revolutionary ideas. This controversy fully reveals the dissent of Miguéis regarding the ideas of Seara Nova.
