This essay starts from the notion of Anthropocene to think about what it means to “design the landscape”. Even understanding that the category landscape has a polysemic, transversal and multidimensional meaning, the interpretative cut in this text takes place at the interface Philosophy and Architecture. The intention is to think the landscape design from the horizon category in a double sense: the spatial, given by the gaze in the perceptive action, therefore aesthetic; and the temporal, given by the existential senses, constituting a being in the world, therefore ethical. The bet here is to think the landscape from a dialectical and paradoxical process that to the sense of design we can include its opposite, the non-design.
