The archaeological site of Vale de Barrancas 1 is located on a small elevation south of Beringel, near a watercourse (Ribeiro do Galego). This site presents a wide diachronic occupation, and type of occupation, since the occupation of the space in the Visigoth period is characterized by housing remains as well as funerary spaces. In addition to the remains of pit houses, pits and kiln-like structures, a necropolis area with more than two dozen graves was identified. Chronologically the occupation of this period may be marked between the 6th and 8th centuries.
