Abstract

The last years were determinant in the flourishing of studies about Islamic pottery in Portugal, visible in the large quantities of materials from archaeological surveys and the available publications. Though the omissions are still significant, especially concerning the earlier periods, the subject has acquired a remarkable territorial expression. The study of a representative number of locations is leading to the definition of a reliable chronological context. In this paper, we propose a chronological and typological approach for the lighting forms in the Portuguese territory.
