Abstract

In this paper we present the overall results of the first archaeological excavation campaign carried out in the “Castillo del Argallén” site, an enclave located between La Serena and Campiña, in Extremadura. The special location of the site, in a framework of valleys and mountains, with a main axis in the river Guadámez, gives to the site a strategic character that is recurrently manifested in various periods such as Romanization, the Andalusian stage or during the last Spanish Civil War.
