Presentation of the results from the archaeological interventions developed between 2011 and 2015 as part of the rehabilitation project of the “Espaço Cidadão” building, which provided a set of information on the urban development of Palmela from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The constructive sequence of the building, of 16th century architecture, was organized according to three major constructive stages: a first one of the late Medieval Period and early Modern Period (13th / 14th-16th century), followed by a new stage with the introduction of new architectural elements in the Modern Period (16th -18th century). Lastly, the building suffered deep changes in the post-earthquake stage (late 18th to the 20th century). It is possible that some of the identified architectural elements are related to the presence of the “New-Christians” community of Palmela and its religious practices, referred in «Foral dos Mouros-Forros» and in some Inquisition processes
