In this text I give a brief presentation of the epistemologies of the South, understanding the South as the epistemic South and not the geographical South. I show that in a historical period as complex and threatening as the one we live in, it is not possible to rely on a single system of knowledge to face the challenges that confront us. Science is a valid knowledge, but it is not the only valid knowledge. Its limits are more evident today than ever before as the perversions of Western modernity (fascism, fundamentalism, ecological collapse, permanent war) are knocking on our door with increasing violence.
