Jean de Rouen, sometimes named «ymaginador», sometimes «architecto», produced works where sculpture and architecture are inextricably tied together. In this study we will analyze some of the well known Norman constructions during the first half of the 16th century, in order to put forward how he used both of these skills on the construction works he led or he took part in. Archives can indeed enlighten the distribution of the tasks between stonemasons and sculptors, as well reveal polyvalent artists. These skills, specific to Jean de Rouen and other stonemasons and construction leaders, seem to influence their work, where architecture is not only a frame for sculpture but where both sculpture and architecture can’t be conceived independently.
