Abstract

This work brings together a set of scattered data, allowing us to trace the “life story” or “biography” of Castelo Velho de Freixo de Numão. The long occupation of the site during prehistory (III and II millennium B.C.) is revealed to be only a moment of its journey in time. Castelo Velho is a place with a wide diachrony. There is evidence that the top of the hill, were we can find today the prehistoric enclosure, was a product of specific changes in historical periods. We will present some of these data and try to understand how to study the site of Castelo Velho as a “Persistent Place in the Landscape.”
