Abstract

Based on the translation of the Greek text, we propose a reading of Pindar’s Olympian 2 ‑ epincian song in honor of the tyrant Theron of Acragas for his victory in the chariot during the 76th. Olympiad in 476. B.C. ‑ highlighting the representations of post‑mortem destiny. The ode the oldest literary text which states the belief in the distribution of rewards and punishments after death and alludes to the doctrine of reincarnation, with the promise of bliss in the hereafter for those who avoided the practice of injustice for three consecutive cycles of existence.
