This paper proposes to analyse the occurrence of the myth of Cisso in Federico García Lorca’s literature (prose, drama and poetry), emphasizing on the conference La imagen poética de don Luis de Góngora, the play El Público and the poems “Cisso” and “Apunte para una oda”. The article reviews some of the possible sources that characterizes the literary iconography of the myth in question in Lorca’s production, interpreting them by two complementary strands: the diachronic analysis proposed by Rafael Martínez Nadal (marked by the Baroque and Renaissance inheritance) and the synchronous analysis, proposed upon studies on the presence of the philosophy of Nietzsche in Lorca’s literature, as well as the particular process of mythologization carried out by the Andalusian poet.
