The concept of dematerialization may not seem very familiar, but it refers to a movement that has been underway for some time and is increasingly at the forefront of current discussions. In economic terms, the dematerialization of the economy is the decoupling of economic development from the consumption of natural resources (including extraction, processing, and use). It is a movement that stems from a simple idea: it is possible to live better while consuming less.
