Renewable Energy Sources: Regulatory Framework for Electricity Production

Renewable energy sources (RES) are today one of the main points of discussion regarding issues such as the energy supply of European Union countries, the need to reduce dependence on oil, adherence to environmental commitments, and sustainable development. On the other hand, the promotion of RES faces significant obstacles concerning production costs, further exacerbated by the mismatch of a market structured around traditional energy sources. Thus, we sought to conduct an exhaustive survey of the legislation regulating electricity production from RES, in search of indications of what could be improved in the law to ensure true compliance with the objectives established by EU policy in this area.
