In Portugal, economic journalism emerged after April 25, 1974 and began to gain relevance after Portugal's entry into the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1986. The growing public interest in the economy led to the creation of sections/editorials specialized in economic issues. But the great affirmation of economic journalism took place during the intervention of the troika (2011-2014), in which the economy dominated political, social and economic life, and began to adopt “new” formats in economic journalism, in a way to satisfy the needs of citizens, through a type of useful information - news to use - a format that complements/ deepens the news. Through the qualitative technique of the interview, eight interviews were carried out with journalists - Jornal de Negócios and Diário Económico - in order to understand how the use of these formats was consolidated, at the same time we understand the praxis of economic journalism in the context of economic and financial crisis.
