This article shows the results of research on the case Petrolão, displayed by the
Brazilian media during the presidential elections of 2014. The scandal, which began
in the first half and involved corruption in state oil company Petrobrás, received
considerable attention after the release of testimony from a former director of the
company and an accomplice ‑ two weeks before the polling day of the second round
of elections. The research aims to investigate the differences and similarities about
the coverage between television news of a public broadcaster, the Reporter Brazil,
from the TV Brazil, and the Jornal Nacional, from a commercial TV (Rede Globo).
