The literary works about colonial memory depict the reappropriation of a traumatic past while proposing a new narrative strongly anchored within fiction. By analysing a selection of works belonging to European postmemory, we will comment the main patterns of these fictional rewritings dealing with colonial history in order to underline their prospective dimension which, in turn, unveils a rupture approach that reveals the idea of a translation regarding colonial legacies.
