The present work analyzes the construction of the political proposals and the projects of the State and the nation, based on the opinion of the press in Rio de Janeiro during the period of Independence. Based on the study of one of the main newspapers that operated in the period – Revérbero Constitucional Fluminense (1821-1822) – we reach for understanding the insertion of its editors in the public debate during the period of 1820. The objective of this work is to demonstrate how that newspaper was constituted as a privileged instrument to understand the instability in the construction of alternatives for the future regarding the central issue of the model of constitutionalism to be adopted in Brazil.
