This article seeks to contribute to an understanding of the concept of metapolitics and its practice in the context of right-wing radicalism, taking into account the Nouvelle Droite and examples of this practice in the Portuguese case. Starting from Alain de Benoist's questioning of the relationship between the Nouvelle Droite and the thought of philosopher Peter Sloterdijk, it affirms the usefulness of Sloterdijk's thought as a starting point for understanding metapolitics and therefore the way in which the Nouvelle Droite sees it in terms of the relationship between thought and strategy. Looking not only at this relationship but also at the link between the discussion of ideas and political impact, historical representations transmitted in the Portuguese case are highlighted in conjunction with the approach to political change characterised as metapolitics.
