Abstract

In this review, we explore some ideas about the relationships between attachment representation to parents and College adaptation. Several studies explore Kenny interpretation that leaving for College may be conceptualized as an example of a Strange Situation as described by Ainsworth. Theoretical and empirical literature suggest that securely attached students report better adaptation to College and continue to seek parents out in situations of stress. The dimensions of attachment valorised by students may differ by gender and socioeconomic background.
