Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission is original, it has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.
  • The text does not go beyond 7000 words.
  • The Identification of the Author(s) of the article is not available in any part of the text.
  • The text's left, right, top, and bottom margins have one inch (2.54 cm).  The text is justified, with a special indent of 1,27 cm in the first line of each paragraph. The text is Times New Roman 12 point font and double-spaced.

  • The title of the article is left aligned or justified, bold, Times New Roman 16 point font and all the main words begin with capital initial letters.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  • The Reference List complies with the rules of APA Style on the APA Publication Manual 7th Edition published by the American Psychological Association.

Author Guidelines

The Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia invites all teachers, researchers and professionals, within the context of Educational Sciences, to submit their articles by means of the e-mail address: rppedagogia@fpce.uc.pt. Articles should be submitted in Portuguese, English or French or Spanish, according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition.

The Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia is published in paper format and online and it comprises articles written in Portuguese, English and Spanish which undergo a double blind refereeing process.

 

1. Formatting guidelines

1.2. Manuscripts should be submitted in a word file format, A4 size. The text's left, right, top, and bottom margins should have one inch (2.54 cm).  The text should be justified, with a special indent of 1,27 cm in the first line of each paragraph. The text should be Times New Roman 12 point font and double-spaced. The manuscript should not go beyond 7000 words.

The title of the article should be left aligned or justified, bold, Times New Roman 16 point font and all the main words should have initial capital letters.

The subtitles of the article, with no numbers, should be formatted according to the following examples:

1.3. Three (3) documents/sheets should be sent along with the manuscript, comprising the following:

- Document A: title of the article; name, email, ORCID (hyperlink) and institutional affiliation of all authors; telephone contact of the author responsible for all correspondence related to the manuscript;

- Document B: titles, subtitles, abstracts (max. 300 words) and keywords (up to 6 keywords) in Portuguese, English and a third language (Spanish or French).

- Document C: declaration of commitment by the author(s), duly signed, that the article submitted to the Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia is original, has not been published before and is not submitted for evaluation in any other scientific publication.

1.4. The identification of the author/s should not appear in any part of the article, with the exception of Document A.

1.5. Tables and figures should be inserted in the article in the location corresponding to their reference, using Arabic numerals to order them, and should be cited using that numbering, e.g.:  “…cf. Figure 10…” and not “…in the following figure…”.

1.6. Tables and figures should be formatted according to the APA Publication Manual published by the American Psychological Association and cannot exceed the dimensions 11,5 cm x 18,5 cm. These must be delivered in the program file in which they were originally edited. That edition should be prepared for printing in black and white. Images or photographs must be delivered in scans of 100% and 300 dpi resolution.

1.7. The references should be inserted in the text according to the author-date system (see APA style guidelines). The page number should be added to text citations. Examples: Piaget said that “intelligence…” (1966, p. 247). But Zazzo (1972) considers… . Several authors (Farr & Moscovici, 1984; Lewin et al., 1944)…

 

2. General information

2.1. The Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia accepts only original manuscripts which have not been previously published and are not before another journal for consideration.

2.2. The published articles are the sole responsibility of their authors. The Editorial Board of the Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia reserves the right to not publish the manuscripts which the Scientific Committee considers that do not meet the quality standards or do not conform to the above guidelines. The unpublished manuscripts will not be returned to their author/s.

2.3. The accepted manuscripts belong permanently to the Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia and may not be reproduced by any means, either in whole or in part, without the written consent of the Editorial Board.

2.4. The Revista Portuguesa de Pedagogia offers a copy of each printed issue to the first author of each published manuscript.
