Respecting the territorial dimensions and cultural specificities between Brazil and Uruguay, this theoretical and bibliographic text proposes to present the scenarios of how Leisure and Education develop their bonds, relationships and practices in these two Latin countries with different realities. We know that leisure has at its core a direct connection with the field of education, either through culture, through the promotion of leisure policies or through the educational character of their experiences. Therefore, we ask, what scenario can we see between leisure and education in Brazil and Uruguay? We identified that, when thinking about Leisure as a manifestation and dimension of culture, it is implicit that its practices educate, entertain and develop. Latin America has leisure associated with native and native peoples, but it was influenced by the process of colonization and slavery, which resulted in an intense miscegenation reflecting and changing their experiences and the links with educational processes in a latent way, as they represent associated cultural practices. The resistance and permanence of the ways of being and doing of a people who suffer and struggle to maintain and rescue their territorial identities. Brazil and Uruguay suffered different government strategies in their leisure time; in Uruguay there seems to be a methodology around recreation as a way of educating and controlling, especially young people and children. And in Brazil, leisure and education are associated with regulations coming from international entities and organizations. Therefore, it is possible to affirm that both countries have a pedagogical and political device in leisure, which does not always echo the practices and experiences of Latin culture, but rather prints processes absorbed from other territories of power.
