Abstract

The use of LMS (Learning Management Systems) to support non distance learning courses is acquiring teachers’ and students’ acceptance, however using it as a repository of content, is a poor use of its facilities. LMS may be used to access content, to establish synchronous and asynchronous interaction between teacher-learners and between learners, and to share ideas, doubts and assignments. The teacher role has changed and the LMS constitutes an opportunity to support students learning, to challenge students to reflexive thinking, to debate ideas and content in a forum. Moreover, when developing a collaborative project, students may use the LMS communication facilities to work out of the classroom.
