This paper proposes a reflection on the contributions of Foucault’s theories to conduct research on teacher education. Thus, the central argument developed in this article is that the positions taken by the French philosopher may assist the design of new issues and, therefore, the construction of new ways of thinking about the dilemmas that research object has imposed on researchers in this 21st century . Thus, Foucauldian concepts as discourse, regimes of truth, order of discourse, power, subject, techniques of domination and techniques of the self, governmentality… are used to show some different ways to discuss teacher education as an object of research.Downloads
