Playing is not unique to the human being, it is part of the very nature of many animal species, especially during the first years of life. Instead, what is unique about our species is the elaboration and manufacture of games and toys and its regulated practice. Some of the most emblematic in history, such as chess or Alquerque, came to Europe by the hand of the Arabs through the Iberian Peninsula. Its practice is not confined to a social status, gender or spatial area, or even to an era, as is inferred from the information extracted from the preserved specimens.
