In this article I investigate the relations between the concepts of history and cosmos in Os Lusíadas and in the Aeneid. My methodology is to review part of the bibliography relevant to the subject and to comparetively analyze passages from both poems. It was possible to conclude that Camões, by emulating Virgil, creates the image of a Portugal identified with cosmos in which lies the main epic argument of the poem.
