This paper aims to provide a first translation of an ode by Francesco Filelfo to Cardinal Bessarion (De psychagogia 1.2), which is characterized by a dense web of intertextual references hiding behind the appearance of a celebratory poem. The translation is therefore accompanied by a commentary designed to identify some issues that have so far remained unexplored, without neglecting remarks on the Greek language adopted by Filelfo, whose production is mostly transmitted in Italian or Latin.
