Abstract

A statue head representing Minerva from the ancient Collippo (S. Sebastião do Freixo, Batalha) is studied and its iconographic model is identified in a similar piece from the temple of Apollo Sosianus in Rome; other pieces of the same model are identified.
It is proposed that this piece represents a remain of an intervention in the
forum of the ancient town probably dating from the Claudio‑neronian period and its relation to similar processes occurring in the capital of the province of Lusitania is discussed.
