Abstract

Starting from the circulation and the tradition of the Pneumatikà by Philo of
Byzantium, the article considers various versions of the third chapter of the work, trying to explain the meaning and origin of the De Arbitriis Mirabilibus, title of the “unknown” work (to which the author refers) and to be understood in the context of the wonderful mechanics and the theory of vacuum (or “movements” of atoms).
