The complex personality and attitude of Sophoclean Deianeira, in Women of Trachis, allows a net of confluences with figures and situations that Herodotus' narration and Aeschylus' and Euripides' tragedy put in evidence too. And the first convention a comparison of all these texts offers is the well known episode of the 'vengeful queen'. So we propose here an analysis of Deianeira in Sophocles, considering the topics of this narrative and dramatic convention.
