The Invisible Avant-garde of the Book Object: dglab 2018 book design award

Abstract

On July 27th 2018, the Portuguese institution DGLAB (responsible for books, archives, and libraries)  awarded the first Book Design Award, with one winner and two runner-ups out of a total of twenty titles selected to represent the country in Frankfurt's book fair and in the Best Book Design from all over the world exhibition in Leipzig. The selection displays a particular graphic and editorial pattern which is the subject of this review.
