This article analyzes football and sports journalism in the Portuguese revolutionary period of 1974, by using the cartoons of the newspaper A Bola, published in the year of the Revolution and collected for the exhibition “25 de Abril B'Cartoons – Selection of drawings by João Martins in the newspaper A Bola de 1974”, organized by the 25 de Abril Documentation Center. Humor (through cartoons) is the instrument for analyzing the relationship between politics, football and the press in the Portuguese revolutionary context.
