The editorial metamorphoses of Dinossauro Excelentíssimo by José Cardoso Pires

This article presents part of an investigation related to the different editions of the work Dinossauro Excelentíssimo, by José Cardoso Pires, namely the 1972 and 1979 editions. We conducted a comparative analysis (intratextual literary analysis) of these editions, which we have called macro-versions, since the remaining reeditions started from these. The observed changes regard not only the replacement of words and some phrases, but structural changes, which can alter the interpretation and reading of this literary piece. It can, in fact, be inferred, from these first readings, that the social and political context that Portugal went through at the end of the dictatorship and the beginning of the democratic period influenced some of the stylistic decisions. We affirm, therefore, that Dinossauro Excelentíssimo had two great metamorphoses.
