Policies of writing and memory in Luandino Vieira's fiction

This study analyzes the short story “Memória narrative ao sol de Kinaxixi”, by the Angolan writer José Luandino Vieira, published in the collection No antigamente, na vida (1987), investigating how the writer’s creative process mobilizes an intertwines two distinct moments of aesthetic construction: the fisrt related to the Greco-Latin cultural memory and the second to the Angolan cultural memory. By recreating, through the rewriting ot the myth, the memory of the narrator character Dinho in his epic adventures through the musseque Kinaxixi, the writing reorganizes our perception of the Angolan cultural memory, presenting it as an aesthetic experience that inserts, in the aesthetic discourse about the beautiful, the space and the culture of Angola.
